The Need:

An unprecedented number of children and young people are struggling with mental health. Our assemblies and workshops build mental health resilience in school children by equipping them with tools to help them navigate life’s challenges.

  • 20% of adolescents experience a mental health problem in any given year.
  • 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14

70% of children and adolescents who experience mental health problems have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age.

Reach For The Stars Assemblies

Jade has ADHD and from the age of 9 struggled at school, academically, socially and with her own mental health. Between the ages of 11 and 13 she struggled with but overcame severe anxiety, depression and an eating disorder.

Jade’s powerful and uplifting story engages and inspires pupils with her messages centred around persistence, resilience, and acceptance of differences. Her sessions encourage students to reach out for help if they find themselves struggling, to see their current struggles as a chapter in a much longer story, to envisage a bright possible future and to pursue their goals as she did. 

Schools, teachers and pupils praise Jade as a role model and welcome the impact of her assemblies on pupils’ well-being and mindset.

Jade’s work has been internationally recognised. She has been interviewed on the ITV News, featured in a BBC documentary about mental health, shortlisted for a National Diversity Award, in the category of ‘Positive Role Model for Young People’, won the BBC’s Make A Difference Award in the category of Volunteer, been featured in many newspapers and has been invited to be a keynote speaker at a United Nations endorsed, global conference on neurodiversity.

Assembly Outcomes:

The message delivered by Jade and goals of this assembly is to inspire young people to:

  • Destigmatize mental health and make it easier to ask for help
  • See an inspiring future for themselves.
  • Be persistent and keep going as we have not failed until we give up on ourselves
  • Be resilient and understand that setbacks & disappointments are for learning and make us stronger
  • Accept, respect and celebrate our differences and our dreams.

Student age-range:

We have two versions of this assembly to suit both primary and secondary school students.

Delivery:

The assembly presentation lasts 30 minutes and is delivered via Zoom or Teams. Jade has presented to audiences as small as 8 and as large as 600 pupils.

Cost:

£145 per assembly (for a school of 300 pupils, this is only £2 per pupil).  We may also be able to work with your school to secure grant funding to cover the cost of the assembly.

Interactive Workshops

Our workshops allow us to work in-depth, building self-awareness, self-esteem and mental health resilience in pupils. Through fun and interactive quizzes, challenges and games, students aged 9 to 14 discover their unique thinking and learning styles, gain confidence in their individual strengths, learn to avoid comparing themselves to others, learn about neurodiversity, explore their hobbies, interests and passions and recognise that long term happiness doesn’t come from the possessions we own, but through kindness to others.

By fostering self-discovery, an understanding of diversity and promoting teamwork, these workshops empower students to embrace their individuality and contribute positively to their communities.

‘What’s Your Genius?’ Workshop overview:

  1. We explore neurodiversity (dyslexia, ADHD, Autism etc) and learn that whilst it presents some of us with difficulties, it can also be a superpower!
  2. We identify our ‘Genius’ type and learn about each student’s natural abilities. 
  3. We learn not to compare ourselves to others, but to focus on our own strengths.
  4. We learn the importance of teamwork, and how all the world’s biggest projects required all the Genius Types to collaborate.
  5. We talk about how doing the things we love and setting positive goals can help us feel happier and more hopeful about the future. 
  6. We learn the value of kindness and serving others to find happiness in our lives.

Delivery:

Schools can choose up to 4 workshops, each lasting 2 .5 hours. Maximum number of participants is 30.

Cost:

£375 per workshop (that’s £12.50 per pupil for a class of 30 pupils,).  We may also be able to work with your school to secure grant funding to cover the cost of delivery.
